Find Humane Receives $25,000 Grant from ASPCA
Funding will help build Find Humane’s list of more humanely raised animal products
Austin, TX — Find Humane, Inc. has been awarded a $25,000 grant from the ASPCA® (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals®) to support building a free consumer website and phone app to help consumers find humanely raised animal products that have third-party welfare certifications recognized as meaningful by the ASPCA’s Shop With Your Heart® program, including expenses associated with programming, graphics, and marketing. The grant will help Find Humane fund the addition of welfare-certified producers, their products, and the locations where products are sold, which are crucial to Find Humane’s ability to empower consumers to find humanely raised animal products.
“Consumer surveys have clearly shown that most people who buy animal products care about improving animal welfare,” said Kevin Grigorenko, Founder & CEO. “This funding will accelerate the development of FindHumane.com and our phone apps to give consumers free tools to find independently certified, humanely raised animal products either locally on a map or for delivery.”
“Consumers across the country are concerned about the treatment of farm animals and don’t want to support factory farming through their food purchases, but they need help finding higher-welfare products,” said Daisy Freund, vice president of farm animal welfare, ASPCA. “The ASPCA is proud to support Find Humane in developing this critical and unique service that can harness the collective power of conscientious consumers to change our food system and improve billions of farm animals’ lives.”
Find Humane will use the grant funding primarily to fund populating our humane animal product map, our list of humane product delivery services, and the list of product details, images, prices, and humane attributes that are listed within each map and delivery listing. These are the details that consumers need to make purchase decisions that improve the lives of animals. The grant funding will also be used to support our website hosting, improving the look and feel of the application, and preparing our marketing for a wider launch planned for 2024. We know through our affiliate programs that we have already helped dozens of people change their purchasing behavior to prioritize more humane options that are already available in their area, and thousands more have viewed the information on our website and app. As our database of products grows with the support of organizations like the ASPCA, consumers will have more power to change their purchases and improve the lives of animals.
Since 2001, the ASPCA has provided more than $200 million in grant funding to over 3,500 organizations and programs nationwide dedicated to helping vulnerable and victimized animals. Grants are just one example of how the ASPCA is helping animals and communities in need, with funds supporting a variety of programs ranging from increasing pet adoptions to helping communities build strong programs to rescue, shelter, transport and support animals during natural disasters, improving access to veterinary care and partnering with food banks to serve more than 4.3 million pet food meals since 2017.
