Find Humane Receives $31,178 Grant from ASPCA
Funding will help build Find Humane’s list of more humanely raised animal-based products
Canyon Lake, TX — Find Humane, Inc. has been awarded its second grant from the ASPCA® (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals®) for $31,178 to support enhancing its free consumer website and phone application that helps consumers find more humanely raised animal-based products with third-party welfare certifications recognized as meaningful by the ASPCA’s Shop With Your Heart® program. The grant will fund the completion of adding all animal-based producers, their products and the locations where their products are sold based on information from the ASPCA’s Shop With Your Heart Grocery List.
“Completing the addition of all of the animal-based producers included on the ASPCA’s Shop With Your Heart Grocery List into Find Humane will empower consumers to easily find more humanely raised animal-based products at their local grocery stores and for delivery,” said Kevin Grigorenko, Founder & CEO. “Many consumers are ready to shift their buying habits to higher welfare options, but they need to know which stores may carry which products and the ASPCA’s grant greatly accelerates putting this information in consumers’ hands, for free.”
“Consumers continue to reject cruel, unsustainable and dangerous factory farming practices and want help finding more humane products, particularly those that are locally available,” said Daisy Freund, vice president of farm animal welfare, ASPCA. “The ASPCA is proud to support Find Humane in developing a tool for conscientious consumers that complements and builds on the ASPCA’s Shop With Your Heart program, connecting consumers with higher welfare options that will drive the creation of a more humane food system.”
Find Humane will use the grant funding to fund populating its product map listing locations that may offer at least one welfare-certified product, a list of all known welfare-certified products that may be at each location, details of each product including pictures, prices and product details, and a list of more humane delivery services. These are the details that consumers need to shift purchasing decisions that ultimately improve the lives of farm animals. We know through our affiliate programs that we have already helped dozens of people change their purchasing behavior to prioritize more humane options, and over 5,000 people have viewed the information on our website and phone application. As our list of products grows with the support of the ASPCA, consumers will have even more power to change their purchases and improve the lives of animals.
Grant funding is only one of many ways the ASPCA supports organizations and communities across the country. The ASPCA is one of the nation’s largest animal welfare grant makers, and since 2001, has provided more than $200 million in grant funding to over 3,500 animal shelters, municipal and governmental agencies, rescue groups, universities and other mission-aligned organizations and programs nationwide. These funds go toward a variety of programs, including over $5.5 million to protect farm animals through direct care, research, educational campaigns and supporting farmers’ adoption of more humane practices.
